Kerala Government Holidays 2023

India is generally closed on all public holidays in all central and state governments. Some holidays are government-owned and some banks across the country are closed. All India Holidays include Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Festivals like Deepavali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Good Friday are also holidays. Most state governments follow the central government holiday list for its offices. State governments give more importance to local festivals. Government holidays in India are subject to change in different states.

Kerala Govt Restricted Holiday List 2023

Restricted Holidays

  1. Ayya Vaikunda Swami Jayanthi – 12.3.2023 – Sunday – Government Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Nadar Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.
  2. Avani Avittom – 30.8.2023 – Wednesday – Government Employees belonging to Brahmin Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.
  3. Vishwakarma day – 17.9.2023 – Sunday – Government Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Vishwakarma Community are permitted to avail Restricted Holiday.

Under the explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) read with the Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs No. 20/25/56/Pub.1 dated 8th June 1957, the Government of Kerala are hereby pleased to declare that in addition to Sundays, expressly defined as Public Holidays in the said explanation, the following days shall be Public Holidays Under Negotiable Instruments Act in Kerala for the Calendar year 2023.
