SUBJECT: CBSE SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2023-24
The Central Board of Secondary Education has been taking many initiatives to generate curiosity and develop scientific attitude amongst learners and to encourage learners to create, innovate and also to become more responsible.
The organization of CBSE Science Exhibition is one such initiative. The activity aims at providing a platform to students to demonstrate the construction of knowledge by connecting new ideas to existing concepts.
The CBSE Science Exhibition for the academic session 2023-24 would be organized at Regional and then National Levels in the months of October 2023 – January 2024.
The Theme and Sub-Themes for the Science Exhibition for 2023 – 24 are:

This exhibition is open to all CBSE Students in 02 categories: Category I – Junior students of Classes 68 and Category II – Senior students of Classes 9-11. |
The Board invites students of affiliated schools (classes 6 to 11) to prepare research-based science projects or exhibits that are original on any of the above listed sub-themes of the main theme Science and Technology for Society. The students may register to submit and showcase their projects, with the help of their schools.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION
1 All schools willing to participate need to register online, remit fee and Submit the project / exhibit between 10th October 2023 to 30th October 2023 at https://cbseit.in The last date for registration is 30th October 2023 and for payment confirmation from bank is 31st October, 2023.
2 The Schools would firstly be required to select option as to whether they are an Indian School or Foreign School.
3. The registration fee as per the details given below must be submitted through online payment gateway:
For Indian Schools | Rs.3000/-per registering team |
For Foreign Schools | To be charged by and to be paid to Foreign Regional Venue. Not to be paid at time of Registration. |
4. The students may participate in any of the 02 categories:
Category I – Classes 6 – 8; and Category II – Classes 9 – 11
A registering School Team will be represented by-
a) A maximum of two students of the same category; and
b) one mentor Science teacher.
5. A participating school can register a maximum of two teams.
6. The names of the students and the mentor teacher, once registered, will not be changed at any stage of the exhibition. The school team participating at Regional and National Level must remain the same.
7. The sub – theme once selected cannot be changed. Similarly, the title of the Project cannot be changed.
8. Each registered team would be provided a unique login credential on the CBSE Science Exhibition portal for online submission of the project.
9. The student/ team project may be-
- an investigation-based study;
- application of basic principles of Science and Technology;
- a novel solution/indigenous design to a problem/challenge. Students and mentor teachers may visit the https://cbseit.in for more resources related to the CBSE Science Exhibition.
10. Care should be taken to use eco-friendly materials in the preparation of exhibits.
11. Though the portal would accept the registration and submission of project till the last day i.e. 27th October 2023 however, to avoid the last days rush, the schools are advised to register and pay fee within 12 days of the issuance of this circular and submit the project/exhibit by the last date i.e. 27th October 2023.
12. The teams would be required to submit the details of their respective projects (title, description, list of materials used, images, video) on the portal using their unique login credentials within the time-frame for submission (27th October 2023).
13. The screening of the entries would be done before the regional/national level exhibitions.
14. The exhibits will be assessed by a team of experts as per the following criteria:
a) Creativity and imagination | 20% |
b) Originality and innovativeness | 15% |
c) Scientific thought/ principle/ approach | 15% |
d) Technical skills, workmanship, craftsmanship etc. | 15% |
e) Educational value, scalability and utility for society in future | 15% |
f) Economics (low cost), portability and durability | 10% |
g) Presentation – effectiveness of display and relevant explanations | 10% |
The decision of the experts would be final.
15. The regional stage of exhibition will be held at different venues across the country. The information regarding the venues will be notified (on CBSE website) and communicated to individual schools on their email ids.
16. The participating school/team would bear all expenses related to participation in the event.
17. The participating teams would make their own lodging/boarding arrangements at the venue city of the exhibition.
18. Establishment of Regional Venue/s in Foreign Countries
Based on the number of entries received from the Foreign schools, the Board will endeavour to establish Regional Venue/s in foreign countries. Establishment of a Regional Venue in any Foreign Country shall be governed by the following guidelines:

i. The regional venue/s would be identified as per the following cluster of countries:
Note:
- Where cluster involves more than one country, the Regional Venue may be fixed in any of the country.
- Cluster/s with less registrations may be clubbed with another Cluster/s.
ii. The Foreign Regional venue would be required to take final confirmation with the registered schools informing a tentative amount towards participation fee and charge participation fee accordingly. The participation fee shall be calculated on break even basis only to cover the expenses for organising the regional round.
iii. The team winning at the Regional Venue in the Middle East would be required to participate for the National Round in India only at their own expenditure towards travel stay and other expenses.
19. The selected best Ten exhibits (the number may increase or decrease depending on the quality of the exhibit) at each regional level venue will be eligible to participate in the National Level Exhibition (details of the date and venue would be informed).
20. The selected best entries at the National Level will be rewarded suitably.
21. The names of the winners of the CBSE National Science Exhibition will be forwarded for consideration as entries in the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyaanik Pradarshani, 2023 to be organized by NCERT. The confirmation for the participation in the exhibition is subject to their selection for the same. Winners may also get a direct entry to participate in the Science Exhibition organized by Initiative for Research & Innovation in Science (IRIS) subject to their selection for it.

The Regional Round for teams from Foreign schools would be conducted online in Mamta Modern Public School, Vikaspuri, New Delhi (Sl. No. 16).
All the participating schools/ teams are also being informed individually regarding the details of the venue on their registered email id. Hence, they are requested to make their travel plan accordingly. Further, all the schools and participating teams should make note of the following:
1.The participating students must be accompanied by the mentor teacher.
2.The participating teams will have to make their own travel and stay arrangements at the venue city.
3.Travel including lodging/boarding expenses will be borne by the participating team / school.
4.Every team must report to the venue school one day in advance and ensure that the space and other facilities required for the display of the exhibit is as per requirement. The exhibit should be arranged and set in all respects well in time. The teams are advised to bring all necessary materials required for proper display of the exhibit.
5.The timing of the exhibitions will be from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on the two days. No team will be allowed to leave before 5 p.m. Travel plans may be made accordingly.
6.The exhibit will be evaluated by judges / team of experts for selection for National Level Exhibition. The key parameters of evaluation of exhibits include creativity, originality, scientific principle, technical skill, utility, economic portability and presentation (as mentioned in Circular No. Acad. – 120/2023). The decision of the judges shall be deemed final.
7.The participating students must prepare well for explanation and presentation.
8.The participating team is required to submit a brief write-up of the model / exhibit to be submitted to the Principal of venue school on the day of reporting at venue.
9.The information / confirmation about participation of school and exact requirements for display of exhibit should be sent to the venue school well in advance at the e-mail mentioned above.
