Andaman and Nicobar Government Holidays 2023
India is generally closed on all public holidays in all central and state governments. Some holidays are government-owned and some banks across the country are closed. All India Holidays include Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Festivals like Deepavali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Good Friday are also holidays. Most state governments follow the central government holiday list for its offices. State governments give more importance to local festivals. Government holidays in India are subject to change in different states.

No.110/2022/F.No.M-13/18/2022-GA-Section-Sectt- Under the Explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (26 of 1881) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.2/6/57-J dated 17th December 1957 and in pursuance of the instructions contained in the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs letter No. 1 4046/27/83-GPI dated 15th February, 1984 and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training) Office Memorandum No. 12/5/2022-JCA dated 16th June 2022, the Lieutenant Governor of A & N Islands has been pleased to declare the following days to be Public Holidays in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during Calendar year 2023.

No.111/2022/F.No.M 13/18/2022-GA-Section-Sectt In pursuance of the instructions contained in the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training) Office Memorandum No. 12/5/2022-JCA dated 16th June 2022, the Lieutenant Governor of A & N Islands has been pleased to order that in addition to Public Holidays notified vide A & N Administration’s Notification No.110/2022/F.No.M-13/18/2022-GA-Section-Sectt, each Government Servant will be permitted to avail any of the two Restricted Holidays from the list given below during the Calendar Year 2023.
